| This Shrine of Our Lady
of Guadalupe was founded in 1902 as St. John Church. In 1962 Bishop
Ackerman renamed the parish "Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe". The present shrine was dedicated on the Feast of the Assumption in 1982. We visited the shrine on July 7, 2001 and had the pleasure of meeting Sr. Dorothy Bondi who opened the shrine and showed us through, answering all of our questions and waiting while we took pictures. Just before we left, she gave our grandson a plate of "home made cookies" and he shared them. Thank you Sr. Bondi.
